Client and business outline
My client is a relatively small broadcasting company. They broadcast seven different shows, Skam, in seven different countries. The company delivers content about the show through social media i.e. fictional Instagram accounts that update as the series progresses, chats between characters throughout the week, etc. They are looking to congregate their sources of Skam into one site for fans and new-comers to easily get updates. Additionally, to increase the exposure of their shows to other countries for the opportunity to produce more remakes.
Target Audience
The target audience of the client is between 14 to mid-20s. The target audience would use both their phone and laptop interchangeably depending on their circumstance. A majority of that target audience would spend a portion of their time on a variety of social media scrolling through their feed as well as keeping up to date with the latest shows/entertainment. The adolescents would check their devices during school breaks and after-school hours. Those in their 20s would frequent social media sporadically as each individual would have different schedules. It would be effective to have the visitors to subscribe or follow the blog to get notification updates.

Widgets
- Follow Blog
For the visitors to get notifications if they miss content that is posted to keep up to date with the series. It ensures the process is efficient for the user.A button is also used on other pages to promote users to follow the blog (i.e. https://skamglobal.home.blog/about/history/).
- Categories/tags
Sorts the posts into specific tags so the user can find exactly what they want. Less time spent looking through the site for specific content.
- Search
For the audience to quickly find what they want instead of clicking through pages. It is more direct than sifting through the multiple pages.
- Calendar
Visual information of post updates that is easier to look at than going to the posts page and reading the headings.
- Gallery
A visual component for users to engage with and break up text.
Menu
Included only what needs to be accessed most often without over crowding the tab
- Remakes & subitems
The sub items lists all the remakes currently out and title attributes to indicate if the show is currently running or not. It optimises their experience by reducing the time taken to find what they want. It decreases the time of going to the remakes page and scrolling to find the specific remake they want. It is more efficient this way for the user.
- FAQs
There will be questions regarding how the show is released as it has an unconventional way of airing the show. This section is used to address that and can be found very easily in the menu section. If there are questions that are not addressed then the visitor can submit a question to be answered.
- Discussion Forums
New fans of the show will want to join the community to share their likes and opinions. This page is for that purpose of connecting new users to others with similar interests.
Theme
- Black and yellow – High contrasting colours to make the distinction between text and background noticeable.
Follows the aesthetic of the original show where a black background and yellow text has become the brand of the show.
Clear and consistent reinforcement of brand identity
- Two simple logos were made by myself, one for the logo to be displayed on the front (home) page and one for the site icon. They both feature the words “SKAM” which is the main identity of the brand.
- The logo displayed on the front page is a simple 512px by 512 px box with a black background and the words “skam global” written in bright yellow. It is clear for the viewer to look at.
- The site icon that is only obvious on desktops is a bright yellow circle with the words “skam” curved in the centre. The bright yellow was used so it could pop out to the viewer to bring attention to the site if they open other tabs.
Cross-device Compatibility
The target audience will have access to either a laptop or mobile device, I went ahead and browsed my site on these devices to gauge how well the information is laid out. The mobile device does have less space but horizontal scrolling is not prevalent. Although when the menu button is opened, some vertical scrolling is involved as it is longer than the screen; resulting in the order of the menu items being rearranged. The ‘Posts’ and ‘FAQs’ items were too far down the list to be accessed efficiently so it was moved further up so users can find it quickly without much effort.
